THE MICHIGAN HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HAS CONCURRED IN THE SENATE’S VERSION OF THE BILL REFORMING WORKERS’S COMPENSATION.
The Michigan House of Representatives has concurred in the Senate’s version of the Bill Reforming Workers’s Compensation. the bill now goes to the Governor for his signature. this bill, if it becomes law, will help greatly in creating a more competitive business climate for Michigan.

THE MICHIGAN SENATE PASSES WORKERS’COMPENSATION REFORM BILL
On December 7, 2011, the Michigan senate passed its substitute for the House of Representative’s Workers’ compensation reform bill. The Senate Bill must now go back to the House for its concurrence. Stay tuned for ongoing updates.

The workers' compensation reform bill passed in the full House on November 2, 2011 by vote of 59 -49. The bill now goes to the Senate.
Here is the House Bill and also MSIA's opinion of the Bill in letter form as it was submitted to the House during its deliberations. The Executive Secretary of MSIA and MSIA Board members and its affiliates offered live testimony during the hearings as well.

HB 5002 passed the Michigan House of Representative's House Commerce Committee

HB 5002 is a Workers' Compensation Reform bill. It passed the Michigan House of Representative's House Commerce Committee on October 26, 2011 and has now been referred to the full house. MSIA supports the bill. Its two major purposes are: modernize the workers' compensation statute, which will be 100 years old next year; and, codify recent Supreme Court decisions.
